About the Teams:
Rideau Valley Vixens, rose up the ranks in WFTDA standings last year to the top of division 2 and winning 2nd place at the championships in Nashville. their division. Having just broke in the Division 1 the Vixens are aiming to move up once again. They are currently placed 40th in WFTDA rankings.
New Skids on the Block have been a fluorescent force in Canadian Roller Derby for years. With an impressive roster and a new coach we’re excited to see the what the Skids can do in 2015. The Skids are currently placed 17th in WFTDA rankings.
The Slaughter Daughters are RVRG’s founding team and were consistently ranked number one in 2012 and 2013 on the Canadian Roller Derby Ranking for home teams. With the reshuffle of the league’s home team talent in 2014, SD kept a killer roster of fast jammers and impressive blockers. The other RVRG home teams had better watch their backs because SD is hungry for the Championship this year.
RVRG’s newest team, The Prime Sinisters is made up of some of the league’s finest veteran and rookie talent. These skaters know their way around a track. In 2014, the Prime Sinisters won the first ever RVRG Home Team Championship title and now, PS are ready to do what it takes to come out on top once again.

Our B All-Star team the Sirens finished off their season with a win against the Ithaca BlueStockings, 211-94. Thank you ladies and gents of Ithaca for being such great hosts.
We held our End of Season Gala on October 4, celebrating an amazing season of brand new house teams, D2 victories, bruises, breaks, and personal bests. Thank yous go out to the Fun Committee for putting on a great evening of awards, laughter and fun.
We continued our tradition of community involvement with two of our favourite events. Several skaters came out to Auntie Loo’s 5th Birthday Bash to hand out free samples and taste a cupcake or three. You can always check out these fabulous vegan treats at http://auntieloostreats.ca/. RVRG also came out to show solidarity with Take Back the Night, helping to marshal their annual walk. http://www.wiseottawa.ca/events/take-back-night
The ladies have also been putting on their best booty shorts and sitting pretty for the camera as we put together our 2015 RVRG Calendar. It will soon be available for sale. We are anticipating the first week of November. So don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled and pre-order yours from your favourite RVRG member!

Sitting track-side on the unforgiving concrete, most of us screamed ourselves hoarse as we watched our Vixens skate their way to become the champs of the WFTDA Division 2 Playoff games held in Kitchener-Waterloo at the end of August.
In the gold medal game, the Vixens took on Bear City’s Berlin Bombshells (Berlin, Germany) and kept fans on the edge of their seats through several lead changes right down to the final seconds of the final jam. Vixens took the win 243-240 becoming the first Canadian team to take home the 1st Place trophy from the first ever WFTDA tournament held in Canada. They now move onto the WFTDA Championships held in Nashville, Tennessee, October 31st to November 2nd, where they will compete against the Detroit Derby Girls, (Detroit, Michigan) in the Division 2 Championship game. This is the first time that a Canadian roller derby team has made it to the Championships. You can catch the games you missed (what were you thinking?) and see the live action on wfda.tv!
